      ABOUT

Settle it one matchup at a time.

Every hip-hop fan has an opinion on who's the best. My Ten Picks turns those opinions into something you can actually look at. Instead of one critic's list, every rating comes from head-to-head votes: two rappers, one skill, you pick.

Each rapper is rated on six skills (flow, lyricism, storytelling, delivery, versatility, and impact), so the result isn't a single number but a shape. Someone can dominate storytelling and trail on flow, and the radar chart shows exactly that.

      What you can do here

      • Vote on quick matchups, starting with the Battle of the Day.
      • Explore any rapper's skill profile, or put two side by side.
      • Build your Top 10, with your Top 3 at the center of the table.
      • Check the Leaderboard for where everyone stands, skill by skill.

My Ten Picks is in an early stage. Votes are shared community-wide for a growing set of fact-checked rappers, and the rest of the roster is browsable but not yet votable.

      HOW RATINGS WORK

Head to head, skill by skill.

Every rating on My Ten Picks comes from matchups: two rappers, one skill, and a vote for who does it better. There are no judges and no fixed scores, just a lot of individual calls adding up.

      The six skills

How a vote moves a rating

Each rapper has a separate rating for each skill, using the Elo system (the same approach used to rank chess players). The key idea: an upset counts for more than an expected result. If a lower-rated rapper wins a matchup, both ratings move a lot. If the favorite wins, they barely move. A "too close to call" vote nudges the two ratings toward each other.

New ratings move quickly so they can find their level fast, then settle down as votes pile up, so one burst of votes can't swing an established rating.

      From rating to radar

The radar chart turns each rating into a 0 to 10 score. Starting ratings come from an initial placement, and from there the votes take over.

Why the matchups look the way they do

Matchups usually pair rappers with similar ratings on that skill, because close matchups tell us the most. Every so often you'll get a wider gap, which keeps things fresh and helps lesser-known names get seen.

      Privacy

      Last updated

My Ten Picks, run by , is a site where people rank rappers by voting in head-to-head matchups. This page explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

      The short version

      • You can use the site without an account. Signing in is optional and uses only your email address. There's no password.
      • We don't sell your data, show ads, or use advertising trackers. We don't currently use analytics.
      • Your username is public. Your email address is never shown to other users.
      • You can ask us to delete your account at any time.

      What we collect

      • Your email address, if you sign in. It's used only to send you sign-in links, and it's held by our authentication provider. Other users can't see it.
      • Your username. You get a random one once your email is confirmed, and you can change it. It's public, so anyone can see it. Nothing is created for an address that hasn't been confirmed: if you ask for a sign-in link for a new address and never use it, that unconfirmed entry, including the address, is deleted automatically about half an hour after the last email we sent.
      • Your Top 10 and its visibility setting. When you're signed in, your Top 10 is saved to your account. New accounts start with a public Top 10, and you can change that any time from the account menu. Squad features are still being built, so for now "Squad only" effectively means only you.
      • Your votes. For each vote we store the two rappers, the skill, which one you picked, the time, and either your account ID (if you're signed in) or a random ID your browser generates (if you're not). Individual votes aren't shown to other users, only the combined results.
      • Votes we refuse. If a vote is refused (too many in a minute, a daily limit, or the human check failing), we log which browser or account it came from, the matchup, the reason, and the time. These logs are deleted after 30 days. We use them to spot automated voting.
      • Moderation records. If we act on an account, for example after a report, we keep a record of the action, a short note, and the username the account had at the time. Votes we discount for looking manipulated are marked in our records rather than erased. If you delete your account, a moderation record may keep the username you had.
      • Username sign-in attempts. To limit abuse, when you ask for a sign-in link by username we briefly keep a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address, not the address itself. These are cleared after about a day.
      • Browser storage. Your browser keeps some things on your device: your light or dark choice, the random ID used for voting without an account, your sign-in session, and, when you're not signed in, your local Top 10 and ratings. We don't set advertising or tracking cookies.

Services that handle data for us

The site relies on a few providers, who process some data to do their jobs:

      • Supabase runs our database, accounts, and the emails that carry sign-in links.
      • Netlify hosts the site. Like any host, it may log technical details such as IP addresses and the pages requested.
      • Cloudflare Turnstile runs when the site loads to check that votes come from real browsers and not bots. Cloudflare receives technical information about your browser and connection, under its own privacy policy.
      • Google Fonts supplies the site's fonts, so Google receives your IP address and browser details when a page loads, under Google's privacy policy.

      How we use it

To run the site: let you sign in, save your Top 10, count your votes, show results, and protect against spam and manipulation. We may also use your email to reply if you contact us. We don't sell or rent personal data, and we don't use it for advertising.

      Keeping and deleting your data

We keep your account information for as long as your account exists. To delete it, email us at from the address on the account, so we can confirm the request is yours. We'll delete your account, username, Top 10, and everything else tied to it. Votes you've already cast stay in the community totals, since a rating can't be unwound one vote at a time, but they're disconnected from you. If we keep backups, deleted data may remain in them until they expire.

      Your choices

      • Change your username or Top 10 visibility any time from the account menu.
      • Use the site signed out. Voting works without an account.
      • Clear your browser's site data to remove everything stored on your device.
      • Ask us to correct, export, or delete the personal information we hold about you. Depending on where you live, you may have specific legal rights (for example under the GDPR or California law), and we'll honor reasonable requests wherever you are.

      Children

My Ten Picks isn't intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 13, we'll delete it. If you believe a child has given us information, please contact us.

      Security

We use encrypted connections and access controls, and we limit who can reach personal data. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't promise absolute security.

      Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top, and we'll say so on the site if the change is significant.

These terms cover your use of My Ten Picks, run by . By using the site or creating an account, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

      What My Ten Picks is

A community site where people rank rappers by voting in head-to-head matchups. Ratings reflect community votes. They're opinions, not official rankings or facts. My Ten Picks isn't affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any artist, label, or management company.

      Who can use it

      • You must be at least 13 years old.
      • If you create an account, you're responsible for what happens under it, and for keeping access to your email secure, since that's how you sign in.
      • The site covers music with explicit language, including in some song and album titles.

      Using the site fairly

Rankings only mean something if the votes are genuine. Please don't:

      • Manipulate results, for example by using bots, scripts, or multiple accounts to cast votes, or by working around the site's limits and checks.
      • Try to reach data that isn't yours, probe the site for weaknesses, or disrupt how it runs. If you find a security problem, please tell us at rather than exploiting it.
      • Harass others, impersonate someone, or choose a username that's offensive, hateful, or includes someone else's personal information.
      • Use the site for anything unlawful, or copy or scrape it in bulk.

      Your content

      What we may do

To protect the site, we may remove or change usernames and content, discount or remove votes we believe were manipulated (which can change ratings), and limit or suspend accounts that break these terms. We'll use our judgment and won't always give notice.

      Accuracy

Artist details such as bios, locations, albums, and track lists are compiled for reference and may contain mistakes. We're checking them in batches and will correct errors we find. Ratings change as votes come in.

      Names and trademarks

Artist, album, and song names belong to their respective owners and appear here only to identify them. If you're a rights holder with a concern about anything on the site, contact us and we'll look at it promptly.

      No warranty

My Ten Picks is an early-stage project, provided "as is" and "as available." We don't promise that it will always be available or error-free, or that data will never be lost.

      Limits on our liability

To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the site, and our total liability for any claim relating to it is limited to the amount you paid to use it, which is currently nothing. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law doesn't allow to be limited.

      Ending your use

You can stop using the site at any time and ask us to delete your account. We may suspend or end access if these terms are broken or if the site changes.

      Changes
